Background Information:
The John Buckley Scholarship is open to students that completed their Leaving Cert in 2025.
For 2025, all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will receive a scholarship award. Unlike previous years, there will be no set number of recipients. Instead, the total scholarship fund of €3,000 will be divided equally among successful applicants, with no individual award exceeding €1,000
The following Criteria applies:
You are a registered member of Clara GAA and or Clara LGFA
You have applied for a full-time undergraduate course via the CAO process or are pursuing an apprenticeship designated by SOLAS and within the scope of the Statutory Apprenticeship system.
Academic performance will be relevant and reviewed as part of the application process
Contribution to your club and wider community will also be considered

Selection process and payment:
An independent committee will be chosen to review applications and confirm eligibility.
All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will receive a scholarship award.

Successful applicants may be asked to promote the scholarship in the future, and images may be used on any and all media platforms.
Payment will be made directly to the chosen applicants and not to any other individual or institution
Fundraising/ Terms & Conditions:
Initial funds of €12,000, raised in 2022, have been used to provide scholarships over the past three years.
From 2025 onward, the scholarship is being funded through a partnership between Clara GAA and Clara LGFA.
All monies raised or provided are solely for the scholarships and not for the benefit of any other club, individual, or organisation.
The number and value of scholarships each year will depend on the funds available, with individual awards capped at €1,000.
Scholarship review:
We will undertake an assessment of the effectiveness of the scholarship programme at the end of year four. This will inform the future direction of the scholarship programme.

All personal data provided as part of the application process may be retained for a period of time after the closing date of the application but used only for the purposes outlined above.
